Week Two

August 25, 2014

After a lazy weekend of afternoon napping, eating banana bread for breakfast, lunch, and, dinner, and watching far too many episodes of Better Off Ted, it felt good to wake up with a schedule in mind. Weird, I know, but like I said before, the regimen works for me (I promise that’ll be the last time I use that word in a very long time). My body was dreading the morning run but my motivated-self was excited to get a good dose of adrenaline racing through my blood.

I turned on Chug-A-Lug (a great oldies country song by Roger Miller) and headed towards the Bay. Exercising really is a great way to start your day – after coffee that is. I don’t do anything ridiculous, just a 30-minute run (more like a walk/run), 50 crunches and 10 push-ups when I get back home, and then into the cold shower I go. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I’ll advance to a more rigorous work-out, but for now, I’m learning not to push myself too hard.

In my earlier days of attempting to get on a work out schedule I’d begin where I didn’t belong – out there with the big shots you see sprinting through town, keeping a pleasant composure and even smiling sometimes.

On day one I’d run myself so hard and squeeze in a ridiculous amount of crunches that on day two I’d laugh at the thought of ever getting myself to dothat again. This time round I’m going for the “practice makes progress” method. I know, I know, the saying is “practice makes perfect” but I’m not trying to be a professional here.

Anyways, just wanted to say Good Morning and welcome to week two as a “full-time blogger”; I’m still figuring out exactly what that means for me, but I’m excited to watch it unfold as the weeks go by.

Happy Exercising!
